Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes

Call to Order

President, Lori Frederick called the meeting to order at 6:56 pm

Welcome

Lori welcomed everyone and wished us a Happy New Year.

Devotion

Elaine Wilkerson presented “Control Chaos” as our devotion.

Announcements

Lori reminded us that our next Sit N Sew is Jan 23rd at the Callahan Masonic Lodge from 9am to 3pm. In Feb we will have one Sit N Sew on Feb 13th, also at the Callahan Masonic Lodge. Motion from Peggy Smith to accept the December minutes with a second from Karen Byrd.  We are in need of a Vice President and President for the 2026-2027 term.

Guild Supported Charities

Lori asked members to please continue to bring items for our charities, they are always welcome.

Quilt of Valor

Sue Deyo gave an update regarding upcoming events. We will have a Quilt of Valor presentation on Jan 20th at 6:30 pm held at North Jacksonville Baptist Church. There are 13 recipients for this presentation. We will be participating in the Quilt of Valor National Sew Day on Feb 7th from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. This will be held at the Callahan Masonic Lodge. If you are interested in registering on the Quilt of Valor website to become a member please give Sue a call and she will provide information to assist you in joining. There is a $10 yearly fee to join.

Retreat

Bonnie Cressey gave an update on our retreat. We currently have 20 people registered for our retreat Feb 24th thru 28th. All attendees should bring 1 off white fat quarter and 2- 1930’s/1940’s fat quarters.  Please also bring 25 buttons (color doesn’t matter) and a pencil with an eraser.

Birthdays for the month of January are Sharon Propper, Anne Hines, Lynette Talak and Carol Ring.

Program

Lori turned the meeting over to Sara Aicher who thanked everyone who brought items for our “Startup Topic” and those that brought completed blocks from our December challenge. The remaining blocks are due at our Feb meeting.  During our February meeting we will hear about five hand stitch techniques that can also be done by machine. Our March meeting will feature the completed quilt projects spearheaded by Carol Blanchard.  Sara also reminded members we are in need of a new project leader for next year.   Sara introduced Carol Blanchard to present “A Quilters Guide to Color” Carol addressed the various aspects of using a color wheel to help in selecting just the right color combinations for our next quilt project. Those present were given a handout to assist in this process.

Other Items of Interest

Door prizes were given and we had Show N Tell.

Lori adjourned the meeting at 8:33pm. (Kicked out due to Steelers Football game)
