2022 October Meeting Minutes
COUNTRY STAR QUILT GUILD
MEETING MINUTES
October 10, 2023
Meeting opened at 7 p.m. by President Smith.
Nadine Lloyd gave opening Devotion/Prayer.
President Smith welcomed visitors and new members.
President Smith made the following announcements:
- We are transitioning to utilizing our website and our Facebook page to communicate with our members. We are adding all documents to our website. Going forward we will cut back on printing documents.
- Dues for the 2022-2023 year of $30.00 are due at the October meeting.
Secretaries Report – President Smith asked for a motion to approve the September 2022 meeting minutes. Anne Hines made the motion to approve; Marina Thomason seconded the motion; the meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
Treasurers Report – President Smith reviewed the financial report; Holly Yurchison made a motion to approve the financials; Ginny Ackerman seconded the motion; the financial report was unanimously approved.
New Business – President Smith asked the group to consider making Hope Lodge/ American Cancer Society of Jacksonville one of the groups we support by making lap quilts for those who come to stay for cancer treatments. They did not have a specific number that they needed. Linda Jordan James-Green would chair this project if approved. There were several questions regarding the number needed so President Smith was going to ask Linda for more information.
President Smith asked the chairs of the different events to give an update:
- Quilts of Valor – Sue Deyo reviewed the process for presenting the quilts to the veterans at our November meeting.
- Retreat 2023 – Holly Yurchison reminded the group that she was still taking applications for the 2023 retreat that will be held in February of next year.
- President Smith reminded the group that the Opportunity Quilt Tickets are for sale at this meeting; see Bonnie Cressey.
- President Smith indicated she needed volunteers for one remaining time slot for selling tickets at the NE Florida County Fair. All other time slots were filled.
Birthdays for the Month October – Kim Williams, Patti Smith, Ava Pitts, Karen Hurst, Mary Murrer, Cheryl Mullis, Vicki Skahill, Sara Aicher.
Program – Marina Thomason – Coloring Quilts – Marina reviewed the process and supplies needed for coloring quilts. She provided a handout that listed resources and supplies. She reviewed the processed and shared examples that she and Peggy had made.
Door Prizes – Bonnie Cressey
Secret Sister for 2022/2023 – President Smith indicated that she had six people show an interest in Secret Sister. She may not have Secret Sister this year if more people do not sign up.
