Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes

Call to Order
President Lori Frederick called the meeting to order at 6:58 PM
Member Recognitions
Lori recognized the visitors that were present, Jade Hilt and Judy Sapp.
Also recognized – new member Judy Meyer.
Devotion & Prayer
Our devotion and prayer was provided by Charlotte Taylor. Charlotte gave everyone a tape
measure and asked everyone to measure their thankfulness every week for the things they are
thankful for.
Order of Business
Announcements:
– Sue Deyo made a motion to approve the October minutes. Anne Hines seconded the motion.
– Jade Hilt, from the Amelia Island Quilt Guild, invited our Guild to join them on Saturday March
23, 2024, for a bus trip to a quilt festival in Trenton, FL. Also visiting a quilt museum and quilt shop
in Chiefland, FL They could pick us up in Callahan. The cost would be $50.00 per person.
– Our next Sit-N-Sew will be December 8th. The November 24th Sit-N-Sew has been cancelled.
– Lori thanked everyone who helped to sell raffle tickets at the Callahan fair. We sold more tickets
than the previous years.
– The Lake City VA quilt was shown by Sue Deyo, Charlotte Taylor, & Dell Dunman.
– There is a wait list for the Quilt Retreat in February.
– Our next meeting is December 11. We will have a pot luck dinner and the Guild will provide the
meat. Mary Sperow has the signup sheet.
– Gail Bowen provided our Tips-N-Pieces for the evening. She showed that when using templates
it was beneficial to use sand paper to keep them from sliding on your fabric.
– Sara Aicher discussed our Table Talk for the evening. We had a quiz to match fabric designers
to facts about them. Also, we were to list our favorite fabric shop and why, to be made into a list to
be distributed at a later date. She then reminded us about the embellished dish towel we should
bring to the December meeting.
– January 9th is the Improv Workshop at Callahan Methodist.
– March 12th is our Laura Heine workshop at the Callahan Shriners Lodge. Vicki Skahill showed
one she had previously made.
– Ramona Lee will show us how to make a sweatshirt jacket at our December 8th Sit-N-Sew.
– Theresa Elliott asked if anyone would be interested in repairing a quilt for someone. She has the
information.
– Lori asked for donations of sewing gizmos and gadgets we do not use or want anymore. They
should be given to her before the next meeting.
– Lori stated that she had more pillow case kits available and thanked everyone that has already
made some.
– Lori thanked everyone for the donations brought this evening for the Nest.
Block of the Whatever
– Lori showed 4 more blocks we could make. They are numbers 50,53,28,13 from the Moda
Blockheads #3.
November Birthdays Recognized
Birthdays for the Month of November are: Lori Frederick, Tracey Calhoun, Ginny Ackerman, and
Theresa Elliott.
Program
Our program was presented by Carol Blanchard. The theme was “The Fabrics of Your Life”.
We were given considerable amounts of information about fabrics, including a handout with fabric
terms & greige goods.
Door prizes were given out.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:06 PM.
