COUNTRY STAR QUILT GUILD
MEETING MINUTES
September 12, 2022
Meeting opened at 7 p.m. by President Smith.
Nadine Lloyd gave opening Devotion/Prayer
President Smith welcomed new members and visitors.
President Smith made the following announcements:
- Collections will be taken up in September and October for Barbara Wagner and Elaine Wilkerson
- We are transitioning to utilizing our website and our Facebook page to communicate with our members. We are adding all documents (e.g., meeting agenda, meeting minutes, financial reports, etc.) to our website. Financial information will not be shared on Facebook. Our goal is to cut back on printing paper documents.
- We are collecting dues for 2022-2023. They are $30.00 and are due by the October meeting
Secretaries Report – President Smith asked for a motion to approve the June 2022 meeting minutes. Dell Ross made a motion to approve; Joanne Griffis seconded the motion; the meeting minutes were unanimously approved.
Treasurers Report – President Smith asked if there were any questions regarding the financial reports. Bonnie Eisenhower made the motion to approve the financial report; Nadine Lloyd seconded; the financial report was unanimously approved.
New Business – Budget Approval – President Smith asked if there were any questions regarding the proposed budget; Ellen Williams asked a question about the monies budgeted for Charity & Community Outreach category; President Smith explained that the funds were budgeted in case monies were needed to purchase supplies for each of the supported charities. Gail Bowen made a motion to approve the budget; Sandy Arcari seconded the motion; the budget was unanimously approved.
President Smith asked the chairs of the different events to give an update:
- Quilts of Valor – Sue Deyo asked that members complete a form for the ceremony to bestow the quilts; she asked everyone to wear red, white, and blue to the event; the event will start at 6:30 p.m. on November 14th.
- Retreat 2023 – Holly Yurchison indicated that twenty-two people have registered for the 2023 retreat. The price remains the same as last year – $275/week.
- Opportunity Quilt Reveal – President Smith displayed the quilt donated by Chris Sandstrom that is being raffled. Tickets are available for sale now through December. Tickets are $1/each.
- NE Florida County Fair Oct 13-23 – President Smith indicated she would be reaching out to members to volunteer to sell tickets at the Northeast Florida County Fair in October.
President Smith congratulated the following members who had birthdays in July, August, and September:
- July – Bonnie Cressey, Betty Jeffries, Mary Sperow, Deb Cain, Bonnie Cranmer Eisenhower
- Aug – Helen Henderson, Ava Jean Sears, Nadine Lloyd, Elaine Wilkerson, Barbara Stroud, Kaye Milliniks, Marsa Detscher
- Sept – Carol Blanchard, Gail Bowen, Lynne Pomerleau, Lisa Maechtlen, Peggy Smith, Linda Olson
Bonnie Cressey did Door Prizes.
Secret Sister Reveal – President Smith identified the Secret Sisters.
