March 2018 Meeting Notes
Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Notes, March 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7 pm.
Visitors were introduced and welcomed, and Julie Mainor was introduced as the guest speaker for the evening.
Secretary Report: February meeting minutes were approved with a motion made by Sue Deyo and seconded by Daphne.
Treasurer Report: No change reported.
Charity Report: 39 pillowcases brought to meeting. This brings our total pillowcase count to 144.
Mary Ann reminded members to let Sandy or Sherry know if they have finished a UFO so it can be recorded on their UFO sheet.
Chris Sandstrom talked about the program for the April meeting. Chris will be giving a short presentation on the Scrap Savers/Scrap Users System.
Chris then went over the Four Patch Posies Stack and Whack project that we will be working on at the April meeting. She went over the supplies to bring (listed below). Chris showed some samples of the type of fabric to bring for the project. The project, using 1 yard of fabric, will make a very nice table runner or a placemat, but not a whole quilt. For the project, members will need to bring:
- 1 yard of floral fabric that contains several contrasting colors, a medium print, and no more than 25% of background showing. Try to find a fabric that has 4 repeats of the pattern within the yard. If it doesn’t, you will need to bring enough fabric to get 4 repeats.
- Rotary cutter
- Cutting mat – 18 x 24”
- Rulers – 6 x 24” and a small square ruler (3 ½”, 5”, or 6 ½”). Smaller print – smaller ruler. Larger print – larger ruler.
- Flat head straight pins
Old Business Report: The Nominating Committee has filled all positions with the exception of the Programs Director. Anyone interested in the Programs Director position, please speak with Sherry. Chris Sandstrom or Sue Deyo can explain the duties of the position.
New Business: For next year, if the guild meeting is to continue meeting at the library, the night will need to be changed from Monday. Thursdays are available at the library. The possibility of meeting in a church was brought up. There is not a budget available to pay for meetings in the county buildings. The guild would like to continue meeting in West Nassau, if possible.
