February 2018 Meeting Minutes
Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Notes, February 2018
The meeting was called to order at 7 pm.
Chris Sandstrom presented Mr. Eddie and Mrs. Betty Jean Conner, from Conner’s A-Maiz-ing Acres, a quilt made by Country Star Quilt Guild members. The quilt was presented in appreciation for the Conner’s invitation to the Quilt Guild to participate in Heritage Days.
Rikki Jameson, owner of Ladybug Quilt Shop, shared the history of her shop and spoke to the guild about Loving Your Quilt. She shared her experience in quilting practices from prewashing fabric, thread preference, quilt washing techniques and products and quilt folding for storage and preservation.
The meeting was recessed so members could browse and purchase the product Rikki brought from her quilt shop.
Mary Ann went over the UFO challenge. $1 per quilt/project listed as UFO.
A motion was made to accept minutes from January meeting by Karen Anderson and seconded by Chris Sandstrom.
Treasurers Report – No changes since last month.
Communications Report – Sara reminded members sharing Show and Tell Items to complete the little information form for identification on the website.
Membership Report by Sherry Curtis. There were 28 members at the meeting with 2 visitors. Visitors were welcomed.
Mary Ann went over dates for upcoming events.
02/28/18 – 03/03/18, AQS Show in Daytona, FL.
03/09/18, Mystery Quilt Support Group 10:00 – 1:00 at Hilliard Library. This will be the last Support Group Meeting.
03/12/18, Quilt Guild Meeting at Hilliard Library. Batik Challenge is due at this meeting. Julie Mainor will be at the meeting and will do a one-woman presentation/comedy about FL Heritage, FL Quilts, FL History.
03/17/18, Suwannee Valley Quilt Festival, Antiques and Crafts in Trenton, FL. This will be the last year for this Quilt Festival as the Quilt Shop is up for sale. The website for more information is www.trentonquiltfestival.com.
03/20/18, Sit’N’Sew at Kelly’s RV Park at noon.

Charity Report. 29 pillowcases brought to meeting. Dane reported to the guild that in order to meet the donations of last year to Ryan’s Case for Smiles, each member would need to make 10 pillowcases for donation.
Pinky Promise – Michelle mentioned that no more heart pillows were needed at this time. There was discussion about donating the remaining pillows accumulated to date to Calico Station.
Special Events and Projects – None at this time
New Business – Mary Ann reminded the guild that it’s time to nominate new officers. The offices that need to be filled for next year are Treasurer, Secretary and President. Sherry Curtis, Dane Ruser and Bea Mehl will make up the Nominating Committee. If anyone would like to nominate a replacement for any of the officers leaving office, please talk with the person you’d like to nominate and then make your recommendation to the Nominating Committee. All Nominations must be made by the Nominating Committee.
UFO challenge items must be completed by the June meeting. As you finish your UFO’s, bring them in for Show and Tell. UFO’s must be bound and have a label to be considered finished.
Items were shared for Show and Tell.
Door prizes were awarded.
