2024 September Meeting Minutes
Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes
9/9/24
Call to Order
President Lori Frederick called the meeting to order at 7 pm.
Welcome
Lori welcomed everyone to the meeting. We have one new member, Michelle Adjdinovich, and one visitor, Norma Johnson.
Charlotte Taylor led us in our devotion.
Quilt of Valor
Sue Deyo has volunteered to manage this year’s service. It will be held on Nov. 18,2024 at the Anchor Church at 7:00 p.m.. This event will take the place of our monthly meeting. Your quilts must be finished by our meeting on October 14th. They will be inspected by ALL STAR Quilt Guild for adherence to the size requirements of Quilt of Valor Foundation.
We have been contacted by Tammy Arnold – QOV Director for the State of Florida about becoming a QOV organization. This was at the recommendation of Samantha Howell. There is only one QOV organization in Jacksonville – The ALL STAR Quilt Guild in Arlington. The Jacksonville area has about 22 Veterans waiting for quilts.
This involves paying an annual fee of $75 to be listed as a group in the QOV. We would have a group leader and 1 or 2 assistant group leaders. The group leaders are required to pay a $10 fee for an online course. Sue Deyo has volunteered to be the group leader. We would be responsible for making the quilts. After discussion, a motion to become a QOV Group was made by Eileen VanFossen. A second was made by Karen Anderson. Approved by a unanimous vote.
