2024 January Meeting Minutes
Country Star Quilt Guild Meeting Minutes
1/8/2024
Call to Order: President Lori Frederick opened the meeting at 7:01 PM
Lori shared that the Lisa Ruble workshop scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled due to the expected bad weather. It will be rescheduled.
Member Recognitions: Lori welcomed everyone to the meeting and asked everyone if they knew how many projects they had completed this year. She suggested that we keep a record of the projects we complete this year.
Our devotion and prayer was lead by Charlotte Taylor.
Program: – Sara Aicher reminded us of the little pocket heart we should make and bring to the February meeting, to be exchanged with other guild members.
– For our program, Sara introduced Lisa Ruble with Intro to Improv Piecing via zoom. Lisa showed us her techniques for making wonky log cabin blocks, wonky stars and several quilts she has made.
Announcements: – The next Sit-N-Sew will be Friday January 12th at the Masonic Lodge. Additional SitN-Sew’s will be held January 26th and February 9th. The next monthly meeting will be February 12th.
– Lori mentioned that Sybil from Pinky Promise and Lisa from The Nest were very
appreciative of the $900 we contributed to each organization at our December
meeting.
– PILLOWCASES: We donated 120 pillowcases to Ryans Cases for Smiles from
September to December. The guild recently purchased 276 yards of fabric for
pillowcases and Lori has kits available for everyone tonight.
BOM: – Lori showed us samples of the next 4 blocks we will be making. They are numbers 26, 40, 44, and 56 from Moda Blockheads #3.
VA Quilt: – We still need someone to volunteer to make the VA quilt this year.
Opportunity Quilt: – It has been brought to Lori’s attention that the opportunity quilt has been won by someone from our guild the past 3 years. What does this look like to the community? Maybe we should think about a different way to sell tickets, or how we pick the winner. She has asked that we think about this and discuss at our next meeting.
January Birthdays: – Birthdays this month: Sharon Propper, Anne Hines, Lisa West, Lynette Talek, Carol Ring.
Show & Tell: – Lori showed us a quilt she made on behalf of the guild to give Ruby Welsh, who works at the Eco-Lodge where we have our retreat!
– Diane Deines also showed several quilts she has made.
Door prizes were distributed. The meeting was adjourned.
