Letter From the President

(Loud voice heard over a public address speaker) “Summer, pull over, this is the police!” “I repeat,
Summer, pull over, this is the police!”
(Summer looking dazed and confused)
Summer: “What’s the matter officer? Was I doing something wrong?”
Officer: “Summer, I’m issuing you a ticket for speeding.”
(Summer speaking in an innocent sounding voice) “But Officer it’s been the same two months of no
meetings that I’ve always been?”
(Officer speaking in a very stern voice) “I’m issuing you the ticket because you keep going by faster and
faster.”
(Summer head down and looking ashamed) “You’re right Officer.”
(Summer suddenly speaking very animated) “I was so excited about the new year ahead for the Guild I
couldn’t help myself!”
I hope this near the end of summer letter doesn’t catch you speeding by. Wow, what a wonderful
summer it has been as preparations have been in high gear getting ready for the upcoming year with the
guild.
One of the key details has been to ensure that the voice of the member input be put into action. So,
with your voices in mind be ready for some things to be done a bit differently. Meeting arrivals, meeting
formats, show and tells, programs, etc. I want you to know, I heard you! I value your trust in me to make
these modifications.
It’s been great seeing some of the new faces at our sit-n-sews over the last couple of months! Hope to
see you at one in the coming months. There’s no pressure, no judging, no reason not to and no one who
doesn’t leave with at least one A-ha moment that they may not have had at other guild events. A great
idea several shared was to have a dedicated project to only working on while at sit-n-sews. There’s also
a high probability of laughter but mostly a room full of help if you have questions or need a lift.
As we move into this new season of change, please be kind and continue to share your feedback both
good and bad. We don’t know if we don’t try!
